PANASONIC HOME PHONES

PHONE FOR HOME
To create a conceptual range of phones for Panasonic’s cordless group, we designed a pair of phones (high end with larger LCD screen and mid tier with smaller screen) that share some parts to keep BOM costs down, whilst maintaining a family design language. The softer shapes are designed to blend into the home environment, whilst incorporating clear visual interaction hierarchy so the interface is easy to understand. We incorporated small, thoughtful details - the bumper that prevents keys being pressed when the phone is set down horizontally, lights that are incorporated into the speaker pattern that provide a visual alert that the phone is ringing from behind, a walkie-talkie feature that let's you page other phones around your home or announce when dinner is ready. Whilst these phones never made it to market, we detailed out the designs as if they were.
