Truly wireless earbuds
Refreshed Pixel Buds are truly wireless earbuds with improved fit and comfort whilst retaining the iconic circular design.
In my role as Wearables ID manager I oversaw the design and execution, directed design photography and worked closely with our functional partners through to launch.
EVOLVING OUR ICON
We scanned thousands of ears to ensure a flush, comfortable and secure fit while maintaining a rational and iconic round form factor that looks great in the ear.
Small yet mighty
Through iteration we balanced many constraints - ergonomics, acoustics, component layout, UX (to name but a few) to arrive at an efficient package that nests neatly in the ear while delivering big sound with a custom 12mm driver, 5hrs of battery life and touch controls.
riverstone
For the charing case, we were inspired by the smooth handfeel of a worn riverstone. Highly pocketable, the buds drop intuitively in leveraging a series of magnets, and the hinge was engineered to deliver a secure closure and a satisfying ‘click’.
