GOOGLE PIXEL WATCH
Google Pixel watch is Google’s first watch built inside and out that brings together helpfulness and convenience from Google and Fitbit’s best health and fitness features, all in a compelling, innovative design.
SHAPED BY WATER
Pixel watch’s soft, round shape was inspired by surface tension of a water droplet. Watchfaces appear from the inky black, harmonizing the interface and the device design & colors. We were able to achieve this soft, pebble like form through innovation; creating super deep 3D glass. The glass blends seamlessly with the stainless steel body, giving a slim and comfortable experience on wrist. Inspired by the craft of traditional timepieces, the details are precisely refined, down to the premium knurling on the crown.
Bands
We developed a transformative band attach mechanism allows you to change up the look of the watch with a simple twist of the bands to swap them out. The bands transform the entire silhouette of the watch (not just the materiality), from sleek and active to more crafted and heritage inspired.
We launched a of bands alongside the watch in a variety of styles, materials and colors that allow you to customize the watch to match your personal aesthetic and your context, from versatile active bands to innovative stretch knit.
STRETCH GOALS
Sustainably created by using recycled elastic yarn and recycled PCR polyester the stretch band features no hardware, just a simple loop that hugs your wrist in the most comfortable way.
CASUAL COMFORT
We developed a custom clasp design for one-size-fits all with micro adjustment with simple look to accentuate our google developed textile. We designed every aspect of the textile bands, down to the recycled PET yarns and PCR connector.
LEATHER
Thoughtfully crafted with sustainable leather, the collection includes modern and classic styles with custom lugs and Google developed colors.
METAL
Precisely constructed from stainless steel and robustly refined details including a unique hidden sizing mechanism.
AN EXCERCISE IN PERSEVERENCE
Google Pixel Watch was a multi-year journey and my role evolved throughout the program. I initially led the ID, working in an IC (individual contributor) capacity, where I set the design intent and worked closely with engineering and glass vendors to push the boundaries of 3D Glass to meet the design vision of emulating the surface tension of water. As the team grew I took on the expanded role of Wearables Industrial Design Manager, providing hands-on design leadership to my small, talented team Industrial Designers to refine the watch, take it through to production and build out our collection of innovative bands.
