To address the emotionally daunting challenge children endure when faced with a CAT scan experience, we developed a mini CAT scanner (hence the name 'Kitten'!). Children are able to play with it in the waiting room of the hospital and become familiar with the process of a CAT scan on their own scale.
When a child places the toys inside the scanner, RFID sensors trigger the screen to display real 3D CAT scans of the toys that come alive through animation, showing 'foreign objects' inside them.
